Cabin with family

Jolie and I and the kids went to the cabin for a couple days. Ryan, Laura, Kailee, and Mom came up for a night. Grandma came prepared with crafts for the kids but we all enjoyed them. We played at the river, played Kismet, cards, watched movies, played legos, visited outside and inside, celebrated Ryan and Emily's upcoming birthdays and had a great time together. Little John 'hung' himself. It was funny so all the kids took turns. Thanks for another great cabin memory!!!

Happy Birthday Emily

I don't really like to do parties but on lil John's birthday in January this year decided at the last minute to let him have a party which led to parties for every kid this year. Thanks to Jolie who showed up with the decorations. She made it cute for the girls and even came prepared with party favors. Thanks Jolie. You always amaze me!
Emily invited a few cousins and a few friends over to make their own pizzas, eat cake, have a treasure hunt, and play american idol for a couple hours. It was a fun day and I can not believe she is 10 years old. I remember my 10th birthday. I had a party at the park and got something I had begged for. A nintendo. The old nintendo and I still have it. My kids get it out sometimes to play it and when they get it out, John and I end up playing Dr. Mario.
Happy Birthday to the sweetest and most beautiful girl EVER!!!

John got a craving for shaved noodles that he had all the time in Taiwan so he googled a recipe, bought the ingredients on the way home from work, and cooked himself up some noodles. They were great. The problem was there was no sauce for them and I had no idea what kind of sauce to put on them. John mixed them with ground beef and wingers sauce. Hm. I ate them with browned butter. Then they sat in our fridge for a week and ended up in the garbage. Next time we'll google a recipe for sauce.

Goodbye 4th floor Orthopedics! Good buy fishy elevator!
Woohoo! John is great. He is healed. He walks straight and he runs. Yeah! We are so grateful even though it was a long year of recovery.
Now we get to go back next summer to make sure his left leg is healing itself.
One day it was suddenly very quiet in the house so I went looking for these boys. They made themselves comforable and told me they were waiting for the kids to get home from school.

Family Night

Have I ever mentioned how much we love our yard?!
We've spent many many evenings in our backyard. This night was one of many spent outside for family home evening. We were playing a game that went along with our lesson and it turned into a big tackle fest.
Have I ever mentioned how wonderful and amazing that man is?! What a great dad and husband. I COULD NOT ask for anything more. He is the best they come. And those kids love him more than anything.

With love from Jack

One day while I was making dinner, Jack walked in, sat these flowers on the counter by me and looked at me and grinned. What a sweet moment. What a sweet boy.

Happy Birthday Grandma

Grandma and Grandpa were going to their old mission in Canada to be there for the dedication of the new church that was desperately needed. They were going to be gone over grandma's birthday so a few days before, we took cake up and sang Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday to an amazing grandma and mother-in-law whom we all love so much!!

Jack's First Day of School

Good bye Jack!! Sam didn't like seeing all his friends leave for the day. He had a rough couple weeks. Now he is just OUT OF CONTROL. The kid can't calm down and stay out of trouble.
Jack LOVES school. Loves. Loves. Loves. He loves Wednesday's because it is P.E. and he knows everyday how many more days until PE. He loves making friends, he loves lining up, and he loves learning.

First day of class

Jack's first day of school. Kind of.
He went for an hour on the first day with me. He got to go on a tour of the school while the parents listened to his teacher then we signed up for an assessment, came back later in the week for it, and started school for real the next Monday.
Jack has been reading since he was 4 and takes his turn just like the others reading the scriptures. He's amazing at reading and we struggled with kindergarten for him at first. He could go to 1st grade and fit in and do just fine. We just didn't like the idea of him turning 16 at the end of his Junior year.

John and Emily left the breakfast with friends and by the time I got to them, class had already started. So I took pictures at the doorway. Little John had a rough couple days really missing his friends at Legacy but now he's got friends coming out his ears and too many girls like him so he's happy where he is and he is doing great.
Emily has a great friend, Carla, who lives across the street. She has a good group of girls in the neighborhood and the 6th grade girls even want to play with her (I think because of her big brother). But I think they both need to get use to that.

Cute Thomas. I had the hardest time leaving him. I don't know why. Maybe it's those big puppy dog eyes. Maybe it's all the cuddling I would miss in the day. He has a sweet innocence about him. He loves to go to school.
The kids ride their bikes to school every day. It has been great and they love it.

Back to the First Day of School

Look at those cute kids. I just want to squish all their faces and kiss them all over. John's dad said Sam was just being his natural self. That kid is a character.
The kids sat outside on the driveway waiting for John and I to get out there. And I hate to have my picture taken (for obvious reasons) but I wanted one with the kids on the day 4 of them leave me!! Sam joined right in and felt like a big kid.

At the breakfast and Thomas walking to school. Jack is up ahead.

A neighbor had a first day of school breakfast. It was cute and a great tradition. Sadly her youngest is in 6th grade this year. If no one else picks up the tradition, I might just have to do that. It was neat for the kids to see each other and I think it helped relax their nerves.
After the breakfast, we walked the kids to school. As usual, I was a little sad to see them go and be in the hands of someone else all day but they LOVE it. It was such a great idea for us to leave the charter school and come to the local school.
When John and I got home, we had two hours before we had to take Jack to school and John was going to go to work. So we canned our peaches. Woohoo!!!
