Memorial Day 2007

This is the caravan on the way to Donut Falls. It includes Richard and Kara and Family, Nairn and oldest four children, Rob, Teresa, and Zach, John and Lisa and Family, Leslie, Aaron, AJ, and our family.

Boys in red.

This is the group of grandchildren.

And this is the group of "children".

"little" Richard made several trips across the river helping the little ones....like "little" John. Thanks Richard. We are going to miss you.

Cute Stella. Always adorable.

Teresa is very carefully crossing the river.

My handsome man at the donut.

Cute girls here. Emily, Kristina, and Caroline. Friends Forever!!

Here is Jack and his "peanut butter and sandwich".

This is our fifth child and our third thumb sucker.

This is some of the group at a BBQ at Nairn and Maria's after the hike. It was a great day with a BIG ping pong tournament. Congratulations to the winners. I have no idea who they were. Did the final man verse the final woman? I'd love to hear how it turned out.

I took children home and went to bed after the looooooooooong day. Others went to Richard and Kara's to watch the Jazz lose.

And here are some of the cute kids swimming and enjoying some summer fun. (not Teresa's kind).

A Day Out With Thomas

Saturday, May 26, we went to Heber City to see Thomas the tank engine. It was $15 a person to ride so we passed on that but we enjoyed seeing him. Thomas thought it was pretty cool to see the "big, huge, giant Thomas".

I thought John had Emily, he thought I had her, sadly neither of us did. When John found her, she burst into tears. It was so sad.

This is the part where we all got out of the car to put our pennies on the track for Thomas to run over, in the middle of nowhere with the car running, the doors locked, and Sam inside. Yep, it's true. This is John putting our coins on the track. And here is Thomas running over our coins. This is the Heber Creeper. It sure was neat to see the steam come from this engine. Another neat train. Thomas was excited that he got to see "Diesel".Here we are waiting for the police to rescue us.
And here he is. He was very nice and asked if we at least got a good picture of Thomas after all this trouble.

And this is cute Sam inside the car wondering why we are all standing outside looking in at him.

The last picture that didn't make it on here was us at Dairy Keen enjoying some ice cream after Thomas wandered off and got lost. Once again, when John found him, he burst into tears.

We went to Park City to do a little shopping for Angus then came home and John and little John watched the Jazz game at Richard and Kara's. They won tonight 1-2 against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.
We are excited to have some family fun with the Higginson out of towners coming in this next week.
Thanks for looking!!!

Jack and his sword

Well, the kid is obsessed. You name it, it becomes a sword. The thing on the faucet that you pull up to plug the sink, it's a sword, the rod on the blinds to open and shut them...sword; here in this picture, it is a tent pole. A big, thick pole that holds Emily's chair umbrella....sword. A sucker stick, a straw, you get my point. It all started with Peter Pan. He breaks the "hook" off of hangers and becomes "Hook". And if Jack and Thomas aren't playing "Peter Pan" it's likely you will find them playing "Nacho and Choncho or Ramses". They drive me nuts but I can't help but laugh and smile at all their craziness.

Lightning McQueen Update (and stuff)

Today I overheard Thomas telling Jack that Daniel took his bike and put it in his backyard. Jack was very upset with Thomas and insisted "No he didn't. The bad guy took my bike." I assured both of them that Daniel did not take Jack's bike but didn't have the heart to tell him where it really was. I'll let big John take care of that. I didn't know they even noticed it was gone. It broke my heart to hear that they both have wondered what happened to it. Cute little guys.
Thomas and Jack fight and beat each other up ALL the time. In fact, yesterday they were stalemate, Thomas on Jack, both with a fistful of each others hair (still attached). I couldn't help but laugh as I gently removed them from each other. They think it is really fun and really get a kick out of it. I can't get them to stop so I have resorted to telling them that they can't do it around me. They have to go somewhere else if they are going to beat each other up. Usually that does the trick but sometimes they think it's great and take off laughing and continuing their attacks. Tonight Jack got really upset (he does that a lot) about we don't know what and walked off saying "I don't want to go away from you." He cried in the other room for a minute then came back and gave us hugs. He is a little terror but really has a tender little heart. We sure love him and the rest of the bunch.

Samuels First Bath

Well, first bath in his bath tub. He loved it. He grinned right when he got in and completely enjoyed himself. He is growing so fast. He is such a good baby. When we first came home from the hospital, we tried to do the "room in" thing but it just didn't work out for us so he has been in his own room in his crib since about one week old. And recently, he's been sleeping 8+ hours a night. He even slept 10 straight hours the other night. Ridiculous. He is so precious and I love him to pieces. I can't get enough of him. He is very pleasant and I better stop here so things don't backfire on me. We are excited for Grandma and Grandpa Higginson to come home from their mission and get to see him and cuddle him.

Sidewalk Chalk Art Show on Main Street

John and Emily go to a Charter school in North Salt Lake called Legacy Preparatory Academy. It is a wonderful school and we just love being a part of it. John's teacher, Teresa Parr, is wonderful. She invited any of her students who would like to, to meet in front of the Tabernacle and do some art on the sidewalk. Then she took them to Wendy's for frostys. Only four students showed up and our family and one other family went with Ms. Parr to Wendy's. How many teachers will treat their students to ice cream?! Ms. Parr is in Richard and Kara's ward.
So above is Ms. Parr, John, and Demiree drawing their "Children of Light" picture. Below is Emily drawing people/friends (her favorite things to draw). Thomas, Jack, and Big John are enjoying a little art as well. It was fun and we are going to walk down Main Street tomorrow to see all the finished drawings of the "professional" artists.

THOMAS RIDES A BIKE!!!!!

Here's our superman! He learned to ride a two-wheeler today. Didn't take long to learn but he was done after a couple rounds and back on the off road tricycle. He is just finishing up preschool and will start kindergarten next year. So exciting. But even more exciting right now...SUMMER!!! Yeah.
When he took off on his bike I had to have looked ridiculous. I was laughing and smiling and enjoying the moment. Isn't it wonderful to watch your children learn new things. I love it. The small and simple joys of life are so wonderful.

Jack-Jack

Well, this was suppose to be a post about Thomas. He just learned to ride a two wheeler tonight. But I can't get the picture of him to come up. So....Here is Jack on his off road tricycle.
Jack got a lightning MacQueen tricycle for Christmas but Dad accidentally ran over it the other day so it will be leaving with the garbage man in the morning. Luckily, just a couple weeks before, we had a nice neighbor give us this bike and a cute old fashioned fire truck. All is well, so far. Jack didn't see the bicycle accident and hasn't mentioned his bike yet. Hopefully he doesn't remember.
Isn't he a cutie? Our blond haired, ice blue eyed little boy. And boy is he something else. Keeps me on my toes ALL the time.

All Tied Up

John brought home 140+ ties from China. Every male adult family member gets 5 each to start. We are already down to less than 70. He loves to tie shop over there and the rest of us love to benefit from his shopping.

Nice cool sand

Natalie, Kyeth, Nairn, Jacob, Lauren, Daniel, John, Emily, and Jack had a good time burying Thomas in the sand. And Thomas had fun being buried.

Cute kids

Sam is sad but still adorable. We bought this outfit when I was pregnant with little John. Sam is sitting on the blanket we picked from Grandma Higginson.

One Saturday while John was in China, my mom took all the boys and left Emily and Sam and me home. Emily wasn't bored for one second. She thoroughly enjoyed her time alone and at one point made several paper creations including bracelets, rings, necklaces, and this cute beak she taped to her face.

John bought these awesome wheels for John in China. I laughed so hard, I cried. I told John they are a 1980's version of Heelys and that our son can now officially ride the short bus.

I love you John.
